About The Kazette
The Kazette (short for "Katren's Gazette") started in a quiet basement in the dead of night, where David Hepworth, brother to the famous editor of this online magazine, busily designed the site for his sister. Inspired by
CNN.com and
BCC.co.uk, David incorporated various news site designs into an improved version that is easy to navigate, fast to load, and not that bad to look at, either.
Based upon a vision between siblings David and Katren Hepworth, The Kazette was made to help inform visitors of the life of the Hepworth family from a unique perspective - that of an eleven year old. Too often online magazine editor and journalist positions are given to adults, where the awe of life is often lost. The perspective of a young child allows visitors to gain insight into the viewpoint they all had, but lost due to the bustle of life.
This impressive venture into the mind of a child will shock, amuse, and entertain you. Visit back often - as long as Katren has her thirst for adventure, there are sure to be things she'll write for you all to read.
If available, Katren's siblings, Caeley (ten years old), and Samuel (nine years old) will submit guest stories in "The Sideline" section of the site. Visit the
home page to read their submissions, when available.
About the Contributors
Katren Hepworth
Born with a thirst for adventure, Katren ironically spends most of her time readings books
about adventure, but hasn't yet gotten to go on a trip that meets her "adventure requirements". Enjoys journalism, but often is dissappointed to see how boring her family can be at times. As most would say about their own kin, she is very intelligent for her age, excelling in math and reading well past others in her age group. She is meticulous to the point of obsessive compulsiveness at times, and has a method to everything she does that can sometimes defy logic - yet she completes the task, in her own time. While shy at first, she's very trusting, and eager to please. A little bit clutzy, all arms and legs - she's eager, but not necessarily able. Regardless of her body betraying her, she has a mind that remains sharp. Expect to see her creative work and intelligent remarks lighting up the Internet for years to come.
Caeley Hepworth
More street smart than Katren, Caeley is fueled more on emotions, and less on critical thinking. This causes her world view to be vastly different than Katren - and while not superior, her opinions remain valid in the busy world of childhood. While she continues to excell in school, she enjoys focusing more on the arts than the "three Rs", choosing to color, draw, sculpt and act, setting up her own plays and games on the fly. A fiery temper keeps her alone at times, but ensures she will never be trod upon by her superiors. Capable of more than she herself accepts, she'll be able to achieve much in her life.
Samuel Hepworth
The quintissential man, Samuel is more of the type to take you to the mudpile and push you in than to clinically describe the dirtiness to you. His macho superhero attitude tends to make his stories somewhat bombastic and explosive, focusing on the "cool explosions" and "awesome stuff". He's still new at reading, and doesn't yet know how to write much, so his stories won't be as frequent as the other two. He'll still be able to dictate editorials; however, he hasn't expressed much of an interest in journalism as the other two.
