Life without older sisters

Life goes on

by Katren Hepworth

While all hope seemed lost for Katren when her sisters left, she has discovered that, while she still misses her sisters, life goes on, and that she can bear the missing sisters knowing their return is coming soon.

My sisters are still in Iowa. They're coming home on December 21. I can't wait. They've been writing us letters, and we've received a few gifts from them when they first left. The night they left we cried, and now we just can't wait. Only gone for six weeks, yet it feels like they've been gone a long time - like it's been a month already! [Editors note - it has been a month, silly.] They left November 7. As you can see from the last post, the person in the picture is Carmella. I don't know what picture will be on this time; maybe I'll find out.

Carmella and Tiffany allowed the three of us younger siblings to use their computers while the two aren't around. So far, we've used both, and have had a really, really fun time. I visit the websites of Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Neopets, and Barbie, to name a few.

Thanksgiving was interesting. We had some difficulty getting to our uncle's house, which normally took around two hours to reach. The roads weren't the greatest, and my dad had several close calls, including a car that stopped very quickly right in front of us. Later on, a traffic jam forced us to find a gas station to look for a detour, because the traffic jam looked like it went on for miles. It was fortunate we stopped, because we were out of windshield washer stuff and really needed it.

Today, while I am dictating this post, it is December 14. We're going to our grandparent's house on Christmas, and getting our presents on Christmas Eve. Our Sri Lanken friends, as well as our Chinese friend are coming with us to our grandparent's house.

My room is getting painted, as well as the kitchen and hallway. They're all yellow.

I am writing a book, although I don't have much time for it as my computer is taking a rest for now. My book is called "The Crime": the story follows the events surrounding a girl named Mary Maxson, and her parents. I intended for The Crime to be submitted to a contest, but I was too late. However, I continued writing for what I call a "family story". I wanted it to be for everyone. So far I've made a little book, which is only the first chapter, and I've made a few changes since then. You'll love this book. Mary Maxson and her family are facing bad guys and are almost dying - that's it: that's all I'm going to tell you about the story. I don't want to spoil it!

My father recorded two shows from the television onto his computer, and is putting them on DVD for us. One is Elloise in Christmastime; the other I've since forgotten. It may be another non-Christmas Elloise movie, but I can't be certain.

The weather is sunny, but really cold. Yesterday and Sunday all three of us younger children were outside, playing in the snow. We had a great time. We made giant snowballs, which grew so large we could no longer push them. We definitely needed a rest after that. We were able to build a snow fort with the snowballs, although we weren't able to make a roof for it. The next day we tried completing the tower, but still weren't able to build a roof for the fort.

My mom purchased three Christmas figurines designed for painting from Michael's, a local craft store. All three were small, hand-sized sculptures of puppies in stockings. I painted mine gold, and named the dog Stephanie. Caeley painted hers pink and yellow, but I don't recall the name given to the dog in the stocking. I still don't know what Sam called his puppy, but he painted his yellow.

We were also able to watch Where the Red Fern Grows on videotape, as well as the sequel.

Today I am wearing a blue velvet dress like an actress wore in Spy Kids. I hope everybody has watched this movie, 'cause it rocks!

Please visit our personal website. You'll be able to find stuff about us. We have pictures of us, and what we like to do up on the site. It's almost my birthday (it's in March).

I've memorized two Bible verses: John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. The second is Ephesians 4:26 - Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath.

We're having a great time here at home.

Thank you for visiting The Kazette. Please expect an update once per month (I apologize for not updating more often).

The Sideline ™

by Caeley Hepworth

We went to a house of one of my mother's friends. They had a trampoline there, and we had a lot of fun.

Our room just got painted yellow, just like our kitchen and back hallway. We're going to get a new floor soon, and our new cupboards are really pretty.

We're making a play of a Bible story, and while we're having a lot of fun preparing, we haven't yet decided a story. The problem is finding a story that's fit for only three people!

Katren just finished an Encyclopedia Brown book - I think it's called "The Case of the Worms". Or "Chicken". I don't know. What I do know is that we just finished an Amber Brown book... well, a book on tape.

We had fun playing outside making "egg glues" [Editors note: I wrote out the word "igloos" the way she said it on the tape. It was simply too cute not to pass on.] Well, not really: we didn't make the top, but rather just arranged huge snowballs in a circle around us. We're still working on it though. We've even made a door, as well as a lake to trap people (whenever one of us falls into it, we have to yell out "I've been trapped in the lake!").

My mom's a great teacher in school.

Yesterday my sister and I played Kim Possible. She played the part of my cousin, and I played Kim. Samuel was an evil character - evil doctor Dracon or something like that (or was it Monkeyfist?).

Our parents gave all three of us younger siblings new bed coverings. Samuel now has Spiderman, Katren has Beauty and the Beast, and I have Jasmine (from Aladdin) bedding.

We recently went to a funeral for an adult friend, whose grandfather died in his sleep. It was very sad.

My knee really hurts. It's hard to walk.

My sister is singing a song right now. I know what it is, so I'll sing the words for you [Editors note: I wrote this out the way she sang the words on the tape: Samuel joined in for the echo]:

Be ye kind (echo) one to another (echo). Tender heartnen (echo), forgiving one another (echo). Be ye kind, wait... wasn't it be ye kind, yeah - Be ye kind (echo), for Christs sake (echo), has forgiven you (echo), Aphesians four thirty-two. My brother is learning to whistle. I can snap my fingers.

We have a new visitor coming to our Bible study. He's a nice man.

Our friend had surgery recently, and my Mom had to babysit his brother. I cried, both brothers cried; I think almost everybody cried. It was fun babysitting. The friend took a nap in Samuel's bed.
