Power Outage

by Katren Hepworth

This month has extras!

News

On the 23rd of august, the power went out with a strike of lightning. My family was looking on the computer to find out if we had a tornado warning, and it went out with a deathly CRACK!!! I talked to a friend of mine, who saw the power go out, infact, I will tell you her story!!

She was in her room, cleaning up, and she stopped to look out her window. She saw a large crack of lightning hit a tree, knocking it down. It hit a transformer, and the power went out. She walked to the other side of her room, and saw her fourteen year old uncle, flashlight in hand. He made her jump!

I went to see the tree, and it was huge! It covered atleast three back yards, that are 16 ft. long!!!!! It was cleaned up, though!!!

I moved her, thinking it was safe," Miss Ella said in her Romanian accent." But, I guess it is not. Maybe Pontiac, or Rochester would be safe. Maybe we be their in spring, I don't know."

Life

A few weeks ago, Caeley and I went outside to play, and we happened to find our friends outside. A mother, Miss Ella, and her baby, Elly, who is turning one sept 7! Caeley and I played with Elly, and talked to her mom. Elly was learning how to walk, so Caeley and I went on walks around the yard. Then we took Elly on a wagon ride around the yard! She shrieked with joy, and her smile, oh! She has the cutest little smile you ever saw! She gave us her biggest smile as we went down a hill. We would stop to say hi to Miss Ella, and Elly would squeal!

The next day, we did the same thing, but tha t time was different, we had a five year old girl come on the ride. She shifted her weight, and the wagon tipped over! The wagon had a bad wheel. I then picked up elly as she cried, and took her to miss Ella. I fixed the wheel, and now they have a safer wagon!

Friday the 17th of august, I went to a award cerimony for the summer reading program at my library! I entered the Young Adult group, and was one of the chidren to finish the program! I was to read twelve books, and I won! When I first got to the party, I ate a big meal, then, I went through the woods to find ten sticks for a bonfire! I then went walking through the woods for fun! (I went in the woods with a friend, I had to use the buddy systum.) Then, i went into a feild and played a whole lot of games! Then, I went to a lodge, and I won two books! One was for finishing my twelve books, and the other for getting my name pulled out of a raffle box! Then i went to the bonfire, and made Smores over the fire! Then, to wait for our parents to pick us up, we did the limbo dance!!!! Then I became a girls hero, along with a few other kids, and I found out that her mom is my friend! We love to play Nancy Drew video games! I met her mom outside the lodge, and I found out that just the day before, they had been watching The Twighlight zone, while playing a Nancy Drew video game I loaned them! The girl had a sister and they went to bed, and came outside their rooms saying that their pillows where glowing! Their mom thought that they had stayed up tooo late playing Nancy rew, and then found that the styrafoam beeds in their pillows where shocking each other, and the light shining through the pillow looked like the pillows where glowing!!!
